| This is why we use Radiographs (Digital X-rays) at the St James Practice, your local dentist in East Grinstead. |
| 1. Most Important Advantages – Much lower dosage of x rays required. |
- Much clearer detail with ability to enlarge x ray
- Immediately or highlight a particular area in detail.
- Immediate pictures enabling us to show you areas of decay on the screen in front of them and enabling us to deal with any problem areas faster - quicker results = quicker repairs.
| 2. Digital x rays take “pictures of the teeth” to show us what is going on inside the Tooth, in the root area and the area beneath the gum line. Often there can be decay beneath the gums which cannot be seen by eye and x rays will show size and severity of this. |
| 3. It takes a “ picture “of a tooth and the surrounding tissues by passing x rays through the tissue onto a collecting plate. These tissues vary in density so allowing more or less penetration. This gives us different shades on the picture which the dentist can translate into health or disease in the tooth and tissue. |
| 4. We shall take x rays when you first attend to gauge the health of your teeth and Tissues. They will also tell us if you have any teeth which are not yet present in your mouth. If you have toothache we shall probably take x rays to establish which tooth is causing the problem. If you need to have your teeth straightened we may need to take an x ray of all your teeth to help the Orthodontist decide on the best form of treatment. If you have a root canal treatment we will need to take diagnostic x rays to measure the length and shape of the roots. We will also need to take one to confirm that the root is filled accordingly. |
| 5. Anyone can have x rays, although we would not normally take them of babies or young children under 10. |
| 6. If you don’t have x rays we will be unable to accurately guage the severity of a diseased tooth. We may also miss a potentially severe disease of the supporting bone and soft tissue. |
| 7. Digital Xrays are far more comfortable than conventional xrays and give faster and better results, so although the equipment costs us a lot of money is very we feel that our patients are worth every penny. |
| 8. Digital X Rays give us peace of mind and confidence that nothing is being missed allowing us to do our job as a dentist to perfection. |
| 9. Many practices do not have these “immediate” x rays which means more visits And possibly a longer time of being in pain before the problem can be rescued. |
