Absolutely not… Teeth whitening is a painless procedure with our dentists in West Sussex, and any mild sensitivity after the treatment will gently subside as you become more comfortable the next day and start to enjoy your new whiter smile and teeth.

How much does it cost?

We have a 2 options for whitening teeth at St James Practice, East Grinstead, West Sussex.

1. ZOOM Professional Whitening is available from £400
2. Home Whitening is available from £200

However you don’t need to pay for both of these, you can opt for Professional Home Whitening which will take around 5 days to obtain your whiter smile. An ultra thin clear plastic ‘tray’ will be custom made to fit over your teeth exactly, in to this you will put a small amount of the whitening gel. You’ll then need to wear these trays with the gel inside for around 2 hours per day for around 5 days.

How does the home teeth whitening process work?

When you decide that you want whiter teeth you will make 2 visits to see us. The first appointment will be to assess you suitability for teeth whitening, we will then take an impression, or mould of your teeth. From this mould we will make a customised teeth whitening tray, this is a clear and very close fitting device that sits over all your teeth. You simply place a small amount of the professional whitening gel in to the tray in the indentation of where you teeth are. Once the whitening tray is in your mouth it holds the teeth bleaching gel in close contact with your teeth. You will leave the whitening trays in place for a few hours before removing them, washing out the whitening gel, rinsing them and repeating the whole process the next day. You are able to then wear your customised whitening trays for as many days as you like, normally around 5 days, to achieve the whiter tooth colour that you prefer.

How does the surgery ZOOM Whitening Work?

In basic principle this works in the same way as our home whitening, except this time there is no tray and we use a high powered light source to stimulate rapid tooth whitening. For in surgery whitening we simply apply the bleaching gel for whitening directly on to your tooth, you will lie in our chair with a device to hold your lips away from your teeth (so the gel doesn’t tough them). We’ll then take our Zoom Light and bring this in close to the whitening gel on your teeth. This light activates the gel and stimulates its bleaching properties to work really fast, meaning you get whiter teeth in as little as an hour. Great for the busy person in a rush!
